Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Movers Richmond has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. Movers Richmond recognises that modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships.
Our Policy on Modern Slavery
Movers Richmond has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in any form. This commitment applies to every aspect of our activities, including our own operations, our recruitment and employment practices, and our relationships with suppliers and contractors.
We expect all individuals working for, or on behalf of, Movers Richmond to uphold this policy. We also expect our suppliers and business partners to share our stance and to embed equivalent standards and controls within their own operations and supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Movers Richmond operates in the removals and relocation sector, providing moving, storage, and related services. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, packing materials, storage facilities, technology, and professional services. While we consider our sector to present a relatively lower risk of modern slavery than some industries, we acknowledge that risk can exist in any supply chain, particularly where goods or services originate from higher-risk regions or from labour-intensive production.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
To mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains, Movers Richmond undertakes proportionate due diligence on current and potential suppliers. This process may include supplier questionnaires, review of public information, and assessment of policies and certifications relating to labour practices and human rights.
We conduct periodic supplier audits, which can involve requesting documentary evidence, holding review meetings, and, where appropriate, visiting key supplier sites. These audits focus on working conditions, pay practices, use of subcontractors, and measures taken by suppliers to prevent forced or trafficked labour. Where we identify concerns, we engage with the supplier to seek remedy and improvement. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address serious issues in a timely manner, Movers Richmond reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
Movers Richmond is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks across the business. Relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, and recruitment, are provided with guidance to help recognise indicators of exploitation and understand how to respond to concerns.
We promote an open culture in which colleagues are encouraged to speak up if they see or suspect any conduct that may constitute modern slavery or human trafficking, either within Movers Richmond or in our supply chains.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
All workers, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicion, concern, or evidence of modern slavery linked to Movers Richmond. Concerns can be raised through management channels or directly to designated senior staff responsible for compliance and ethics. Reports may be made in confidence, and individuals raising concerns will not suffer retaliation for doing so in good faith.
Any report of possible modern slavery will be taken seriously, promptly investigated, and, where appropriate, escalated to senior leadership for decision-making and action. Where required, Movers Richmond will cooperate with relevant authorities and support investigations into alleged exploitation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Movers Richmond recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuously improving our policies, procedures, and controls to strengthen our response to modern slavery risks.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness, reflect changes in our business and supply chains, and take account of emerging best practice and regulatory developments. Updated versions of the statement will supersede previous versions and guide our continuing efforts to eradicate modern slavery from our operations and supply chains.
